1.Siam Park
Siam Park isn't just for thrill-seekers — it's one of the best family days out on the island, catering to every age at once. While older kids and adults queue for the near-vertical Tower of Power and the whirling Dragon, younger children have The Lost City, a sprawling water-play fort of bridges, slides, water cannons and buckets, plus the gentle Mai Thai River that drifts through the whole park and a wave pool with a white-sand beach for paddling. Cabanas, shaded areas, lockers and plenty of eating options make a full day with kids manageable, and lifeguards are ever-present. A couple of the headline rides carry height and swimming requirements, so check before queuing to avoid disappointment. 2.Loro Parque
For animal-mad children, Loro Parque in Puerto de la Cruz is a highlight of any Tenerife trip. Set in beautiful subtropical gardens, it packs an extraordinary variety of wildlife into an easily walkable space: a walk-through penguin house complete with real snow, a lush gorilla jungle, chimpanzees, tigers, meerkats, alligators, a giant aquarium with a shark tunnel and, of course, the largest and most diverse collection of parrots in the world. Daily animal presentations keep younger visitors captivated, and the park's strong conservation and breeding record — it runs a foundation that has helped save endangered parrot species — makes it more meaningful than a simple zoo. Facilities are excellent, with baby-changing, buggies to hire, shaded rest areas and plenty of food outlets. The free vintage-style train from the seafront removes the parking headache. 3.Aqualand Costa Adeje
A gentler and more affordable water park than the world-famous Siam Park nearby, Aqualand Costa Adeje is squarely aimed at families with younger children. Its slides range from big-kid tube rides and a couple of steeper drops to plenty of gentle chutes, plus dedicated children's pools with mini-slides, water features and shaded areas where toddlers can splash safely. A lazy river, a wave pool and grassy sunbathing lawns round out the water offering, and there are lifeguards throughout. The park also has a dolphinarium with regular shows that many families enjoy, though visitors with concerns about captive marine mammals may prefer to skip it. Facilities include lockers, sunbed hire, snack bars and picnic areas, and free shuttle buses connect the surrounding resorts. Prices are noticeably lower than Siam Park, making it a good-value choice for a relaxed family day, especially with smaller children who might find the headline slides at Siam too intense. Bring swimwear, sunscreen and water shoes. It's an easy, fun and less overwhelming option for a hot day in the south.

4.Jungle Park (Las Águilas)
Set on a jungly hillside above Los Cristianos, Jungle Park (also known as Las Águilas) is a leafy, walkable animal park that makes a great half-day for families in the south. Winding paths lead through dense tropical planting past penguins, tigers, jaguars, lemurs, alligators, meerkats and more, with well-placed viewing points that keep younger children engaged. Its signature attraction is a superb free-flight exhibition of eagles, vultures, hawks and other birds of prey that swoop low over the audience — a genuinely thrilling spectacle worth timing your visit around. There's also a sea-lion show, a suspension-bridge adventure trail and a small toboggan ride to keep energy levels up. The hillside setting means some walking and steps, so it's better for slightly older toddlers and up. Facilities include cafés, picnic spots and buggy-friendly main routes, and free shuttle buses run from the resorts. Quieter and greener than the big water parks, it's a good change of pace and pairs well with a morning at the beach. Bring sun protection and comfortable shoes.

5.Monkey Park
For a low-key, hands-on animal experience that delights small children, Monkey Park near Los Cristianos is a charming little wildlife park that punches above its size. The big draw is interaction: for the price of a small bag of fruit bought at the entrance, kids can hand-feed inquisitive squirrel monkeys, marmosets, lemurs and meerkats, many of which will happily climb onto shoulders and arms, creating the kind of up-close encounter that leaves a lasting impression. Beyond the primates you'll find reptiles, tortoises, parrots and other small creatures across a compact, easily managed site that's ideal for toddlers and younger children who'd be overwhelmed by the big parks. It's inexpensive, unpretentious and refreshingly personal compared with the polished mega-attractions, and a visit takes only an hour or two, making it easy to slot into a beach day. Facilities are basic but adequate. Note that it's about animal interaction rather than conservation spectacle, so manage expectations accordingly. For families with little ones wanting a gentle, affordable and genuinely fun animal encounter close to the southern resorts, it's a lovely choice.

6.Forestal Park
For active families and older children, Forestal Park offers a very different Tenerife day out, high in the fragrant pine forests along the scenic TF-24 mountain road above La Laguna. This treetop adventure park strings together a series of aerial circuits — rope bridges, cargo nets, Tarzan swings and zip-lines — through the canopy, graded by height and difficulty so that everyone from cautious youngsters to daredevil teens and adults can find a suitable challenge. Kitted out with harnesses and given a safety briefing, participants clip on and work their way around at their own pace, with staff on hand throughout. The cool, shady forest setting is a welcome escape from the coastal heat, and the sense of achievement (and the odd thrill on the longer zip-lines) makes it hugely popular with families and groups. There are minimum height and age requirements for the higher circuits, so check before you go, and wear closed shoes and comfortable, flexible clothing. Reachable by hire car as part of a day exploring the highlands or en route to Teide, it's a memorable, energetic alternative to the beach.

7.Submarine Safari
For a real 'wow' moment that both children and adults will remember, Submarine Safari takes passengers beneath the waves in an actual tourist submarine that dives to around 30 metres on the seabed off the south coast. From the comfort of a dry, air-conditioned cabin lined with large portholes, you descend past shoals of fish, rays, the occasional shipwreck and, if you're lucky, larger marine life, while a guide narrates what you're seeing — an underwater world revealed without anyone getting wet. The novelty of boarding a genuine submarine (there are only a handful offering tourist dives worldwide) makes it especially exciting for kids, and the controlled, comfortable environment suits nervous swimmers and non-divers of all ages. The whole experience, including the boat transfer out to the sub, takes a couple of hours, and departures run from the San Miguel marina near Las Galletas. It's pricier than most family attractions, but as a one-off it's a genuine highlight. Book ahead, choose a morning slot for the best light and visibility, and bring a camera. A memorable, unusual outing away from the usual parks and beaches.
