Spring Break 2027 — Where to Go and When to Book
When spring break actually falls in 2027, which destinations handle the crowds best, and how far ahead to book before the cheap seats disappear.

Spring break isn't one week — it's a six-week stretch where different schools and colleges let out on different schedules, which is exactly why the destinations and prices swing so much depending on when you go. Here's how to time it and where to point the flight.
When Is Spring Break 2027?
College and school spring breaks spread across mid-February through late April 2027, with the heaviest concentration in the first three weeks of March. There's no single national date — each school district and university sets its own calendar — so the honest answer is to check your own (or your kids') school calendar first, then book around it. If you have flexibility, the first half of March is peak spring break; the edges of that window (late February, early April) are quieter and cheaper for identical weather.
Where to Go, by What You Want
The Classic Party Scene
Cancún is still the reigning spring break capital — an enormous hotel zone built for exactly this, with every budget covered and nightlife that runs all night. Punta Cana offers a similar all-inclusive scene with a slightly calmer edge.
A Beach Trip Without Leaving the Country
Miami delivers the spring break energy domestically — South Beach, no passport required, and direct flights from almost everywhere. It's pricier than Mexico or the Caribbean for a comparable week, but the logistics are simpler.
Families and Younger Kids
Orlando is the default for a reason — theme parks built for exactly this crowd, with endless flight options keeping fares competitive even in peak weeks. For a calmer family beach week, Aruba's steady weather and family-friendly resorts are a strong alternative to the parks.
Something Different
Las Vegas and San Diego both pull a spring break crowd without the classic beach-resort format — Vegas for nightlife and shows, San Diego for a milder, more laid-back West Coast week.
When to Book
Spring break fares follow the same rule as any peak-demand period: the airline isn't guessing when seats will sell, it's watching them sell and repricing upward as they go. Booking two to three months ahead — by mid-to-late December for a March trip — gets you in before the steepest climb. Waiting until February for a March spring break trip means competing for whatever's left in the most expensive fare buckets.
If your dates are flexible, flying out a day before or after the peak crowd (Thursday instead of Saturday, for instance) can meaningfully cut the fare even within the same week.
Beating the Crowds
Every destination on this list gets busy during peak spring break weeks. If crowds matter more to you than hitting the exact social spring-break window, the edges of the season — mid-to-late February or mid-to-late April — give you the same weather and beaches with a fraction of the people, at noticeably lower prices.
